Update

I managed to get the money order off to Bevie's family . . . Monday. Probably should have taken Lisa up on that extension, but I tried to get it out Friday. On my way to the Post Office I received an e-mail from my professor about some last-minute deadlines, so I had to turn around and go home (skipping a lesson to boot) and finish those up.

I went ahead and made the money order for an even $500, and sent it via Priority Mail along with insurance and delivery notification. According to the tracking site, the package was delivered to its destination, but we've not yet received a confirmation from Bevie's family whether they received the money.

In other news, I'm in the last few stages of moving. Or I should be, anyway. Too much to do and too little time. Also feeling really nostalgic and lamenting the lack of time I have to visit old haunts and check out new places in Chicago I've not had a chance to visit. Like the Lyric Opera, for example.

Sigh. There's never enough time.

Hi

It was really heartwarming to read how the blogging community responded. And you and fairyhedgehog are fab to have started this for Bevie's family. My sympathies and condolences are as always with them.

Good luck with all your deadlines and your move! You are so right about time - it marches on regardless of your needs or wants.

Have a great Saturday.
Take care

Thanks so much for doing that, Stacy. I have a nasty feeling you were rather out of pocket over it as well as being stressed out just when you're moving!

Oh, and good luck with the move. It's always a stressful thing to do. I hope you won't be offline for long - I'd miss you!

It is heartwarming, isn't it? It's nice to know we have friends pretty much all over the world. And i was glad to take care of it. In the past I've been in the position (too many times, it seems) where I've needed help. This is the only way to "pay back" the people who helped me—by paying it forward. (I loved that concept in the movie PAY IT FORWARD—which is why I really hated the ending. What a crock. You take this great concept and ruin it by killing the MC at the end???? If there was ever a movie that could have spawned a movement with a happy ending, it was this one. The filmmakers really missed their chance on this one, IMHO. But I digress.)

I'm not going to be offline really much at all. I've purchased a router to use at my parents' place, so I plan to be around a bit—about as much as I have been lately (which isn't much).

Just going to be on all four cylinders with the thesis film and trying to do a little paid work on the side (if I can find some!)

Yes, thanks again.

I'm glad you're not going to vanish from the blogosphere!

I read the book Pay It Forward and hated it for the ending, which felt like a callous tearjerker. When I was young I read a story about Passing It On so I've always preferred that to Paying It Forward!
