Help Bevie's Family

Bevie often spoke at length about his financial woes, which were no doubt a result of his health issues. It can't be any easier for his family now. With their permission, Fairyhedgehog and I have set up a Paypal donation button. We had to wait a couple of days to work out the details*, but it's up now (see left). We'll have the button up for a week, then whatever's there I will send to Bevie's wife. Please help if you can. I'm matching the first $35 in donations.

*The money will deposited into my bank account, and I will issue a money order to Bevie's wife, as it was agreed that this is what would be most helpful to them.

Thank you for thinking of this and setting it up. I'm grateful to be able to contribute something to show how much Bevie meant to me.

Thank you for taking up this collection for Bevie's family. I knew him thru a SF Writer's Group. I was always impressed by his tremendous output and his devotion to his writing.

I made a small donation--as much as I can afford. But, something has bothered me for while. Why wasn't he able to get SS Disability and medical assistance?
It seems like something failed him
and his family terribly.

I'm considering forwarding the details to a columnist at the Minneapolis Star Tribune. It seems this should be investigated since I'm convinced Bevie would have lived with proper medical care and counseling. However, I have no contact with his family and wouldn't want to pursue this if they object.

I don't know, Ms. Sparrow. He spoke at length about how he and his family could not get the assistance they so desperately needed. I just hope that these donations help out his family now that they've lost him.

I was a little slow in getting back, glad I wasn't too late to donate!
Thanks for putting this together for Bevie and his family.
I will add a link on my blog -however, my blog isn't all that well followed - but worth a try.

No problem, Lisa. Thanks for the donation! We're close to $500 now.

Also, thanks for the link. It's certainly worth a shot!

Also, one last thing. I forgot to thank you for your donation, Marissa. So thank you. Apologies for missing the comment.

so glad to see bloggers coming through! Can we keep this paypal account open a bit longer. Other's might be as slow, or slower than me, or perhaps people who read the blogs might be slow to see this.

I'm afraid Friday is the deadline. I said that I would send out the money to them on Friday, and I don't want to wait any longer than that to get it to them. Thanks.

Also, I'm going to make the deadline 2 p.m. Chicago (Central) time. We're doing this via money order, so I need enough time to actually get the money order and then mail it out.

So grateful to you for doing this, Stacy. You've got so much else to think about at the moment!

Stacy - how did you know Bevie?
