I'd Frame This, But . . .

So I got my first check today as a composer. This feels like seven kinds of awesome.

It was a little bigger than expected and came sooner than expected. Let's hope this trend continues!

All right! Now you are officially a "Professional", right?

When Spouse and I got paid for the first gift we sold through our home business, we went to the bank and cashed the check, asking the cashier for a new, crisp one dollar bill. We took it home and framed it. Although we hardly sell anything anymore, we still have that dollar hanging on the wall in a frame.

Just a thought.

In his previous life, my hubby was a jingle-writer (he still belongs to TAXI for writing music, but he sucks at lyrics, and it's mostly pop stuff), and occasionally he gets a check for $0.84 residual. And he's still thrilled every time.

Congrats, and wishing you many many many more (higher than $0.84) checks for composing!

Yep, Bevie, made me feel like I'd moved from amateur status to professional status. Cause for celebration! (Which will have to come later, as I'm bogged down in the last three to four weeks of school.) I may do the framing dollar thing, but more likely I'll frame the check stub. : )

Thanks, FHH and Whirl!! Someday I'll come to England and we can all hang out.

Love that story, Aerin! It is a little more than $0.84. Now I have to put these pieces into ASCAP's database.

You gotta celebrate the little successes along the way, and I'm learning how to do that. Awesome!
