So. I'm stealing
Kiersten's idea and opening up the floor to questions. Ask anything you want, as long as it's in relatively good taste and doesn't ask if I've done anything illegal. If you're rude, I'll ignore your question. Or delete it altogether.

He he he...
Okay, really, hrm...what was the last book to make you cry?
Me? Nooooo.
Kiersten: I confess it was the sixth Harry Potter book, when a major character was killed—someone whom I really didn't expect to die that way. (I'm sure we all know who that was, but for that ONE person in the world who hasn't read the series and wants to, I'm not going to spoil it!)
And also, it's always made me cry that Sirius Black wasn't given a reprieve. But then, he's married now, so I DON'T CARE. >: (
Have you ever done anything illegal?
Okay, well, nothing your husband wouldn't try to prosecute me for.
Would try, I mean. I'll shut up until the next question.
Why music?
When are you coming to England?
Good morning.
I see you have read and watched both Watership Down and Lord of the Rings. In each case, which did you prefer? The Book? Or, The Movie?
Why music?
Ever since I was a kid, I've been drawn to music. When I was 20, my first relationship imploded. I decided soon after that I didn't want to look back on my life and have to ask 'What if I had gone for it?' I still have regrets, but fewer, I think, than if I'd just finished that business degree.

I don't know! At the moment, I'm attracting flakes to me like flies to flypaper, so it's a question of when I'M EVER GETTING EFFING PAID.
I don't know how I do this. Seriously.

Morning, Bevie. The awful truth is: I like the LOTR movies better than the books. Tolkien came up with a wonderful story, but his books tend to drag in places, while the movies are pure fun from beginning to end.
As far as Watership Down, it's a tossup. I saw the movie when I was a kid and fell in love with it. It was so different than the other 'cartoons' I had seen. I didn't read the book until my early 30's, but I still loved it. Adams did a wonderful job of infusing that world with its own myths.
It's so unfair of people not to pay you. How does the system work? When I was doing private counselling clients used to pay me at the end of each session and they were very good about it.
It sounds like the people you're dealing with are just plain nasty. Hope they cough up soon.
Me too, FHH!! : )
Oh, Freddie. Can I ask another question? Please?
Are you going to make this a regular thing like Kiersten does? I vote yes. I like it that Kiersten does, too.
(By the way, when you made reference to attracking "flakes" I was worried you might be talking about me. Were you?)

OMG - no!! I just meant that there are people in my professional life who have agreed to pay me for my work and . . . haven't. I've just had a a weird, long run of that as of late.
Sure, I can keep this as a permanent thing. As long as you don't mind me talking about myself, I don't mind doing it. : )
Did you see that Timothy Hallinan is featuring a classical music composer on Sunday as guest blogger?

No, I didn't! I may check that out. Thanks, FHH!

That's why I visit other blogs. To learn about other people. (And to jump in when they toss up things like "attracking flakes". [grin])
That s*cks, not getting paid when you're supposed to. Do you have any recourses available to you? If it will help, you can threaten them with me showing up to perform. I'll even sing if they insist on being hard-nosed about it.
Seriously, I hope you get your money. You earned it.
You know, next time someone doesn't pay me, that's exactly what I'll threaten. : )
I did actually get to teach a lesson this evening and got paid for it, so I'm feeling a little better. Hopefully tomorrow will bring a check or two!
freddie,
Can you make it mandatory to be paid right then? FH is right- mpost counselors, most private teachers and tutors, expect payment each time the service is rendered.
I do get paid each time the service is rendered, but I also have a policy that I get paid in the event that I show for the lesson and the student doesn't. If they don't cancel ahead of time, and I take the time to go to their house, they have to pay me. Sometimes it can be tough to pursue that, but I showed for lessons in December that a couple of clients forgot to cancel ahead of time. (Getting to their places aren't easy. It takes almost an hour.) Usually they're very good about paying me even when they forget to cancel. It's just a run of bad luck at the moment. Sigh.
I'm considering just asking for the money at the beginning of the month rather than by the lesson to prevent this sort of thing happening again. But I'm not sure I'll be able to track that accurately while I'm in school and everything is chaos. We shall see! : )
I have had a run of meeting flakes, though. But its for other types of gigs.
